cloudy coudersport

June 5th Sat.--
Remember there aren't any problem's only solutions! My brother was supposed to pick me up with a kayak under his arm today. I called at 8:00 am and he had only had a few hours of sleep. No he wasn't partying like a rock star. He and his wife had just flown in from Arruiba to Pittsburgh and the plane was a tad late--like 2:00 am. I knew it was going to be a lost cause for today when I called him and he couldn't find Coudersport on the map or his truck. Tommorrow will still work- I am not getting paid for this. Another day looking around the Coud will work.

I also found out that the office building that Adelphia built for $30 million not $10 mill is for sale at $3 mill. What a deal! Looks like Sunday will be my launch day and not one person can tell me the length of the Allegeny River from here to the burgh. Most people in town didn't even know that the river running through their town goes to Pittsburgh. So I don't know how long it will take. It look's like 250 miles with dams along the way so it's anybody's guess.

At the musuem yesterday I read about a interesting fella. When your having a tough day, think of Josha Jones in the 1820's. Josh and his wife got into a terrible argument with the outcome of Josh's wife feeling the wrong end of a axe along side the head. Josh took off for them there hills, with the posse hot on his trail. The town even offered a $200.00 reward for the deperados capture. Josh was caught and brought back to town and since he was the first murderer in Potter County, he was treated like a movie star.

Some local store owner's knew when they had a good deal coming. They could show off old Josh before and after he got a fair trail and was hanged. It seemed good for business! It just got sticky with the reward money of $200.00 coming from the town's piggy bank. Josh was known to be a fair man, his only down side was his wicked temper. Josh came up with the idea of selling his body for $200.00. It seems he wouldn't need his body after the hanging! Josh found a way to make everybody happy, the store owners, the town council, everybody except Mrs. Jones. The town still has Josh's skull in the musuem and you can gaze at it for free.

The marathaner have been coming into the finish with a time of 2 hours 40 minutes for the winner. They ahd to run over a mountain on the race course, I know I walked it.

It seems like they should have put the wife's skull in the museum instead of the Josh's! She had a skull worth looking at, right?
